Supporting Students in Need
We provide emergency clothing such as leggings and athletic pants, socks and underwear to the family resource centers for students with unexpected needs during their school day. We believe that no child should have to worry about basic necessities when their focus should be on learning and growth.
Ongoing Outreach Initiatives
Our commitment to the families residing in the Housing Authority of Irvine is unwavering. We have taken on the role of providing ongoing oral health education and supplies, backpacks, and crucial school supplies.
At the annual Summer Fun Day, we help alleviate back-to-school stress by offering 'new-for-you' children’s clothing and assisting families with the preparation for the new academic year. Our initiative extends through the holiday season with Christmas Bingo — an event where household goods and supplies are the prizes, but ultimately, every participant leaves as a winner.

dictionary program
student finds the answer in his new dictionary
Through the ongoing generous donations of the Lakewood-Rocky River Sunrise Rotary Club in Ohio, every child entering third grade for the last 20 plus years has received a new dictionary that they can take home and keep. Using a print dictionary instead of online searches provides a snowball effect of learning. For instance: * Leafing through pages exposes children to new and interesting words that catch their eye. * Finding words in a dictionary or thesaurus exercises kids' minds. They must consider order, sequencing, alphabetization, spelling, context and much more. * Taking their time to find a word rather than have instant online answers, improves reading skills, literacy and learning.Literacy intitiative
Children choose their free book at community-wide event
Statistics show that if children are not reading at grade level by third grade they are less likely to graduate high school and more likely to use drugs, alcohol and even spend time in prison! Teens with low reading levels are more likely to carry a weapon, get in fights and cause disruptions at school. Our mission is to get as many books in the hands of children as possible. We strive to teach parents the importance of reading to their children when they are young. Reading with your children prepares them for school and life.
Residents of the Housing Authority enjoy Christmas Bingo where they receive prizes of household goods and personal items.
