Interfaith Wellness Ministry provides education and resources to encourage and improve the health and wellness of our community. Activities vary from year to year based on need.
Services Provided to the Community Include:
Grief Support
Gather every third Tuesday from 5-7pm at Steam Engine Session Room, Main Street, Irvine, Ky. Refreshments provided.
Safe social setting-A "no expectations group" where you can be with others who are also experiencing loss/loneliness/isolation.
Someone to share concerns with confidentially or simply participate in activities.
Each session will include coping mechanisms you can use at home to ease emotional stress.
Healthy You Wellness Talks
Every third Thursday 4:30-5:30 @ Estill County Public Library. Presentations on various wellness topics by community Professionals
Opportunity for blood pressure checks
Healthy Food Samples provided by U.K. Estill County Extension Office
Free educational materials, door prizes, and refreshments
Body Fitness Exercise
Gentle exercise for strength and flexibility
Meets twice weekly for 10-15 weeks
Program provided twice yearly: beginning in January and September
Housing Authority of Irvine (Public Housing)
We also work with the Housing Authority of Irvine to provide families with information and resources to live a healthier life. Some items and services included are:
Dental hygiene education; we also distribute toothbrushes and paste several times a year
Soaps, lotions, shampoos, and other personal hygiene items
School supplies throughout the year
First-aid supplies
Information on parenting, nutrition, family safety, and other topics
Creative Writing
2 Six week sessions per year with a professional instructor.
Learn techniques to strengthen your skills or learn something new.
